Specialty Classes

LCNS offers several classes to supplement our core curriculum. They can be attended separately or combined with other classes to create a one to five-day program. These classes are available to children who are 3 or 4 by September 1 as well as children age eligible for Young 5s or as a supplement to your child's Kindergarten program. No parent helping is required although parents do take turns providing the snack. These classes meet Tuesday or Thursday mornings and/or afternoons.

Kaleidoscope For Fours, Young 5s, and Kindergarteners (New Program for 2010-2011)

Each component will meet in the afternoons throughout the school year in 11 week segments featuring the classes listed below. Kaleidoscope classes will be all new with no repeated lessons from previous years. Kaleidoscope or individual class may be available in the morning based on demand.

Left-Brain Component (Tuesday):

Adventurers - We're off to see the world! Where do you want to visit? Is it the highest mountain, the deepest ocean, the Sahara Desert, the North Pole, or the jungles of the Amazon? Who will we find there? Come on an adventure you won't soon forget.

Explorers - Mathemagic Land is an intriguing and wonderful place filled with new discoveries around each bend. Become an explorer and we'll set off together in search of numbers and other things mathemagical.

Investigators - Are you curious about how things work? Do you ever wonder "Why?" Be an investigator and find out the things you've always wanted to know.

Right-Brain Component (Thursday):

Create - Dream big and create your own works of art as we explore a variety of mediums and become real life artists.

Imagine - A book in your hand and a song in your heart will open new vistas as we use classic stories and music to let our imagination soar while developing prereading skills.

Spice - Add some spice to your life with new recipes, new foods, new cooking experiences, and new friends with whom to share the table.

Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch is a 45 minute program offered to both morning and afternoon students that allows your child to form new friendships in a non-structured, play environment. Children bring their own lunch. This program is open to all age groups except Young Three.
